  • What kind of merchandise will you accept for consignment and/or sale?
    We accept most items, but there are some exceptions. We, of course, will not have large items, such as boats, hot tubs, and console televisions in the store.

    Some items, such as ceiling light fixtures and luggage, have proved to be poor sellers in our store and might be best sold elsewhere.

    We reserve the right to refuse items. If we are overstocked in a particular area, we may put you on a waiting list.
  • What condition must the merchandise be in?
    Items should be clean and electronics in working order. We will not accept broken or damaged merchandise. We will clean items if necessary, at an increased commission.
  • What is the commission for selling items in The Balderdash Collection?
    Our commission is 40% of the final selling price. This percentage will increase, by 5%, if items have to be cleaned or repaired. (Click here to an example chart, which will open in a new tab or window)
  • How is the selling price decided?
    We will determine the price based on our experience and research.
  • How long will you hold my merchandise if it does not sell?
    Most items won't stay more than 3 months; we will make a decision on an item by item basis. We will lower prices as necessary, and post some items on eBay or Craigslist. You will have the option to take back your unsold merchandise, or we will eventually donate it to local charities.
  • How will I receive payment when my merchandise has sold?
    Checks will be mailed after the first week of each month for sold items.

    If you receive $600 or more in a calendar year from your sales, we have to issue you a 1099 tax form. It is your responsibility to pay any required taxes.
  • How do I get my merchandise to The Balderdash Collection?
    We do not accept items from walk-ins.

    Contact us via phone, email, or drop by the store to discuss what you have. Once we come to an agreement to sell your items, we can set up an appointment for you to bring them to the store or, for an increased commission, we will pick them up.
  • What is your return policy?
    All sales are final, no returns will be accepted.
